MemberHub is unable to customize Member Types. The member types listed are the only categories recognized by state PTAs. When you enter a membership for your local PTA, it must be recorded under one of those membership types.
The State PTA does a 1:1 reporting ratio, which means you owe the state their membership fee per individual entered. If entering a family membership consisting of two individuals, you will have to enter each individual and will owe the state PTA two individual membership fees. Many state PTAs are also requiring an email OR phone number for each member entered. These are state PTA guidelines, please contact them if you have any questions.
We understand units use family memberships so we wanted to provide a workaround to enter these types of members. You will need to enter each person in the family individually as a PTA member on the Add Members page using one of the existing member types.
If the split dues amount is not equal to an existing member type, you will need to update that member type to the state required dues amount on the Dues Payment Page settings under the Money tab. Any overage can be entered in the donation field. Click here for instructions on setting up your Dues Payment Page.
If you are accepting Dues Payments online then changing the dues amount for one of the member types will impact people paying their dues on your site. Alternately you could have families pay their dues in a Payment Request and then enter the individuals in the Add Members page of the PTA tab. Click here for instructions on creating a payment request.
