How does PTA Dues Money Flow?

One of the nicest benefits that MemberHub offers PTAs is the ability to route money to the local unit's bank account and the state-level PTA bank account automatically. Our partnership with Heartland School Solutions makes this possible and we work directly with them to continually improve the funding process.

Let's start with an example:

  • Dues Payment of $10.00
  • Convenience Fee is 85¢ to be paid by the buyer
  • Total Charge amount is $10.85

$6.00 should flow directly to the local PTA unit and $4.00 (or whatever amount applies to your state) will route to the state-level PTA.

As of May 23, 2017 here is how the money will flow:

  • $5.97 to local PTA - The 3¢ shortfall will be made whole monthly with automatic credit just after the first of the following month
  • $4.00 to the state will be funded weekly

It would be great if there were a family/household membership option with multiple fields to input names/emails, so schools with PTSAs can provide a way for, e.g., two parents and two students to join at once. While the convenience of joining via MemberHub is great, I can see people balking at an additional $0.89 per membership because as it stands, each parent and student has to join separately.

I agree, asking a couple to join as two separate transactions is too much to ask. We won't end up with as many members if we have to charge each separately. We will still use paper membership enrollment forms at our opening events at school and manually enter the PTA members.

On the bright side MemberHub has negotiated a lower processing fee with Heartland than first quoted in this article.

Hey guys. We are 100% working on this. We understand the requirement to allow a person to join multiple people at once to the PTA and wrap it all up in one transaction. Thank you for sharing your opinion and your patience.

I'm confused about our payments on PTA membership. We have a $6 fee and 4 goes to our chapters and $2 goes to us. We addtionally have the 50cent fee and the 21cent fee. ( Whatever that is it's much more than PayPal.) So the total to each person is 67

Is $6.71. I looks at what was sent to our bank and it was $1.98. Where is our 2 cents? We really need an ability to put in one transaction per family as well. The cost is too high otherwise. If you want us to use memberhub and to show it off to wake county for future use, please make fees minimal.

Thank you for the feedback Michele. We are hoping to update sites next week to allow people to buy memberships for multiple family members/people at one time.

Any progress on allowing family memberships? We are starting to communicate with families for Kindergarten orientations and it would nice to start with the same messaging.

    thanks,

We are testing now and hope to release this new functionality in the very near future.
